A Note to the Reader

First and foremost, I believe that the Bible is directly inspired communication from God. Any other beliefs that I have are subject to change on further study of God’s Word. (Please correct me where I am wrong, but please use scriptures and not the traditions of men or writings outside of the Bible.)

The scriptures quoted in this book are all from the King James Version (also known as the Authorised Version) unless otherwise stated. All scriptures are also displayed in a different typestyle, for example: John 3v16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Each scripture is numbered 1 to 91 in order of their appearance in the Bible for easy reference. Where the discussion of one verse is cross-referenced to another verse contained within this list, the reference number will appear in braces (curly brackets), for example, “Acts 2v38 {56 }” tells us that the verse in question, Acts chapter 2 verse 38, is in the section numbered 56 of this book. Any verse within the same chapter as the one we are looking at in a particular section will be annotated with only the verse number rather than the full reference. For example, “v39” would refer to verse 39 in the same chapter as the verse heading the current section of study, in this case Acts chapter 2 verse 39.

For reference, and to aid your studies, this edition also has a section at the back with an index of scriptures cited or quoted, along with the full verse of scripture for all verses quoted, and also for those cited in a number of instances.

The method of selection of the verses was to search for the root “bapti” in the whole of the Bible. The resulting verses therefore contain one or more of the following words:

Baptism	Baptist	Baptist’s	Baptize
Baptized	Baptizeth	Baptizing

Please for your own edification verify the list of scriptures by performing your own search. Although there are many methods that can be used to perform the search, the most widely available perhaps is a search on the internet site ‘Biblegateway.com’. If you enter the following address into your browser you should find the 91 verses addressed in this book:
